What is screening?
Employment Screening involves conducting additional checks on an individual to work in a certain role or venue. Checks can involve but are not limited to reviewing and verifying; background, qualifications, references, documents, criminal and financial history.
What level of screening is hap conducting?
hap will initially be screening to BS8406.
What is BS8406?
BS8406 is a British Standard of screening which includes but is not limited to in-person checks of current address, identification and recommendations.
Why are hap screening staff?
Our clients' needs vary and change based on legislation, risk management and commitment to providing a safe and reputable workplace for staff. Moving forward we will increase the screening requirements for some venues and roles in-line with commitments to our clients to provide staff who have been screened to this specific level. This will enhance the roles available to our teams and increase our offering of assignments.
Who will be screened?
From April 2024, all new and current staff working in stewarding roles in Scotland will be invited to be screened to BS8406 over the next few months. Depending on client requirements we may expand the screening area in the future and invite individuals from other roles and areas to be screened.
I haven't been invited to be screened should I get in-touch with the hap team?
There is no need to reach out to the hap team to be screened. The head office team will reach out to invite you to be screened when required.
Once I have been screened to BS8406 will I need to be screened again?
There are different levels of screening which we may approach you about in the future. Screening to a higher level can increase the amount of work hap can offer you in the future.
I have already worked in the role. Why do I need to be screened?
In-line with commitments to provide a high level of screened staff to our clients and venues, you will need to be screened if you would like to continue to work or apply to work within a specific role and venue that requires screening.
What if I do not want to be screened?
You do not have to be screened, however, choosing not be be screened may limit the venues, roles and clients hap are able to offer you in the future.
