It is important that you get a break while you are working.
Your breaks are unpaid and will be deducted from your payslip, so take this time to grab some food and rest. For some, it may seem attractive to not take a break and work longer hours, but breaks are for your personal well being and safety and by law we are obliged to make sure that you get one.
If you are working a shift that is scheduled on PARiM it will state that your shift includes a 30 minute break (if you are working over 6 hours). Your legal entitlement is detailed below, and any additional time is dependent on how long each particular venue allows. You must remember to clock in and out for your break.
For UK workers
You have the right to 1 uninterrupted 20 minute rest break during your working day, if you work more than 6 hours a day.
Whilst on shift, please know that you can remind your manager/supervisor if you have not had a break yet.
For ROI workers
You have the right to a 15-minute break where more than 4½ hours have been worked.
You have the right to a 30-minute break where more than 6 hours have been worked, which may include the first break.
